How to Qualify for a Final Exam Exemption

Students may be exempt from a final exam if they meet one of the following criteria:

  • Students must have an A in the course going into the final exam*, OR
  • Pass the SOL or IDM associated with the course

*If a student’s grade drops below an A before the exam, they are no longer exempt and must take the final. Failure to take the exam will result in a 0% (F). Final exams count for 10% of the course grade.

Note: Dual Enrollment (DE) courses may not offer exam exemptions.

How to Check Current Student Grades

  • Log into ParentVue and click on “Gradebook”
  • Check Year Grade

Attendance On Exam Days for Exempt Students

If a student is exempt, their teacher will mark them as EE (Exam Exempt) and students do not need to be present for that block on the day of the exam. No need to contact the Attendance Office.

  • If an Exempt Student Comes to School, they must report to class. Students may not walk the halls or leave campus.
  • No Early Dismissals During Exams:
To minimize disruptions, early dismissals during exam periods are not allowed, except in emergencies

Attendance Expectations Before and During Exam Week

Before Exam Week: Teachers are completing curriculum, preparing students for exams, and offering enrichment.

  • No exemptions apply before exam week begins.
  • Underclassmen are not exempt during senior exam week.

First Day of Exam Week: This is a full school day. Students must attend regularly scheduled classes. If they are exempt from their exam, they will be marked EE for that particular block.

Can My Student Take Their Exam Early?

Early Exams: Final exams cannot be taken early

  • Students who are absent for exams will need to contact the Main Office upon their return/over the summer to take their exam.
