At Unity Reed High School, there are many ways to be IB. For most students, their journey begins in the Middle Years Programme (MYP) during their 9th and 10th grade years. While all MYP classes are grounded in the IB Philosophy, our Advanced MYP courses are designed to prepare students with the academic and learning skills necessary to be successful in the IB Diploma (IBDP) and IB Career (IBCP) Programmes. Students earn weighted GPA credit in high school and, based on assessment scores, can earn college credits.
Please take the time to explore the videos and pages for specific details about the programs, but first, we invite you to watch our "Embrace the Pride" video for all incoming students. In it you can see how international-mindedness is at the heart of who we are, as is a dedication to the IB Learner Profile traits of being open-minded, caring, balanced, principled, reflective, and knowledgeable. At URHS, we are inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and risk-takers.
IB Mission Statement
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
IB Learner Profile
Central to everything in the IB Programme is the IB Learner Profile. The IB Learner Profile describes a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success. They imply a commitment to help all members of the school community learn to respect themselves, others, and the world around them. At Unity Reed High School, we aim to develop learners who are:
Inquirers
Knowledgeable
Thinkers
Communicators
Principled
Open-minded
Caring
Risk-Takers
