While the IBCP (Career-related Programme) is the newest part of the IB Learning Continuum, it is by many accounts the most dynamic. The flexible nature of the Programme allows for an amazingly diverse group of interests and backgrounds in the cohort of learners. The CP brings together students from all of our Specialty Programs and Career Pathways at Unity Reed High School. The list is ever-growing and currently includes:
  • Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC)
  • Aviation Maintenance
  • Business
  • Cosmetology
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE)
  • Electricity
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Firefighting
  • PLTW Engineering
  • SALC (Student Activities Leadership Council)

These programs attract students from all walks of life, and through the CP, they come together to learn and grow. This collaboration helps to prepare them for the 21st workplace they will encounter in the future.

The CP brings together high academic standards with a passion for career related studies. To succeed in the new economies of the world, it is imperative that one must be willing to grow, ready to adapt, and knowledgeable about the world around them.

It has been my honor to help launch the CP. As an Engineering teacher, robotics coach and career switcher, I have always been focused on preparing students for a successful career future.

What is the IBCP?

The IB Career Programme is a framework of international education that incorporates the values of the IB into a unique programme that allows students to begin pursuing their career interests while still in high school. Students take at least two IBDP courses - the same advanced courses IB Diploma candidates study - but also complete a career-related study over their 11th and 12th grade years.
